News From The Nurse

Contact OES School Nurse, Alisha Duke, RN, at 318-495-3996, if your child has any health concerns or problems.

  • Talk to your physician about the flu shot for your family.
  • Please do not send your child to school sick. Your child should be without fever for 24 hours before returning to school. Also, children should not come to school if they have had vomiting or diarrhea within 24 hours.
  • Do not return back to school before the date on your doctor’s excuse.
  • Remind your children to wash their hands before eating, after going to the restroom, after coughing or sneezing, and when they arrive home from school. Studies have shown that good hand washing techniques decrease absences from school. This is especially important since the flu is continuing to affect people across the nation.
The following diseases are contagious, and students are not allowed to attend school until after they have passed the contagious stage of the disease.
